Not a Data Scientist? Try IBM’s Watson Studio!
--
IBM’s Watson is something of a pandora’s box. Once you start going down the rabbit hole you’ll find yourself likely awed. It’s a feature packed software suite that provides the ability to build machine learning models, Text or image AI detection, and so much more. I attended a workshop put on by IBM developers and oddly enough a data scientist student asked in the chat “So wait does this make data scientists obsolete?” Which is definitely understandable considering just all of what Watson studio was capable of doing.
Short answer is no it doesn’t, but it definitely changes what a data scientist might be working on. Watson is able to take various training data and even without much understanding of data science can allow developers to harness the power of machine learning. We were able to take a sample set of comma separated patient data and creative predictive models to determine the chance of heart failure. Not only that we were able to view what was the highest contributing factor and more.
Data Scientist though will need to fine tune the models. As while useful and accurate for developers without a data science background it would still need additional work for maximum accuracy. So Watson won’t kill data scientists by any means, but it will definitely change up the game. Best part? It’s totally free for to test out and work with.
